My Heart Belongs in Galveston, Texas by Kathleen Y'Barbo

I think I have read each of the books that has come out in this series so far.  Loving them all.  This is one by an author whose books always keep me reading.  This one did that.  I really enjoyed the mystery involved.  Also a little danger to keep you on your toes.  Good book!

I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

Audiobooks by Linda Weaver Clarke

Audiobooks: Stories of Adventure, Mystery, and Romance

My favorite time period is historical because it’s during a time when men defended a lady’s honor and treated women with respect. The women, on the other hand, were not frail by any means. I love strong women characters who fight for what they believe. I enjoy writing stories with a mixture of romance and adventure. My favorite loves stories are about a couple who know they are meant for one another, even though there are trials along the way.

The Rebel Series is a Historical Mystery/Adventure Romance set in the 1700s. Many people have asked me why I wrote a story about rebels. Simple! I love a rogue who fights for justice and for the people. It was a bunch of rebels who fought for their freedom in America. They wanted to be free from the dictatorship of a king. How about Robin Hood? He and a bunch of men did the same thing as they helped the needy and poor. Liberty is something that I cherish. So I decided to write about a small country that struggles to be free.

The Captured Bride by Michelle Griep

This was another addition to the Mayflower Bride's Collection.  I loved this book.

Mercy, raised by the Mohawks and dealing with two cultures in her life plans to help in defeating the French.  She will be a scout helping on a dangerous mission.

This book shows a woman of valor and strength.  Love that in a woman of that day and age.  It's also a love story.  You will enjoy the great adventure that is imparted in this really great book!

I really couldn't put this book down for a minute.  Had to keep on reading it!!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

The Perfect Bride by Debbie Lynn Costello Character Interview and Two Giveaways!

I am so happy to be able to host Debbie Lynn Costello for her Blog Tour for her latest book, The Perfect Bride!

I also have the pleasure of introducing your to Avice Touchet, the herione of her story who has kindly agreed to an interview to share with you today!

Hi Avice!  So happy to have you here and get to know you a little bit!  Thanks so much for taking the time to answer some questions!

Avice, you seem such a trustful and faithful young woman.  You trusted in the Lord that all things would work for the good.  How did you acquire this strong faith?

My mother instilled it into me. From a young age she taught me what she had learned. We dinna have a Bible but my mother is a strong woman of faith and has hidden the Lord’s words in her heart where she has shared them with me.

You are also a bit of a horse whisperer!  How did you know what you should do to rescue Philip from the horse?

Philip has had me on a horse since I was young. Though I am not an accomplished rider because I ride with Philip.  I do love to stroke their fur and talk nonsense to them but am no’ a horse whisper. I thought I might faint but fear for Philip’s life kept me upon my feet. I believe in my heart it was no’ me that calmed the horse but the Lord using me. It was also He that kept me on my feet when I approached the beast. God is faithful.

You were ready to sacrifice your happiness for the needs and betterment of those you love.  Did you do this because that was due to the fact that this was a woman’s place and thing to do in this period of time and history?

Nay, I did it because I knew that was what the Lord had done for me. He laid down His life for me. What I was willing to sacrifice was nothing compared to what my Savior did. I also knew if the Lord called me to do this thing, He would be with me.

I loved how your story ended.  Will there be more tales of your life as time passes?  I could easily see a sequel!  Any chance of that?

Weel, I hear rumor that there is another full-length novel in the works set at Rosen Craig. Perhaps Philip and I will be stopping in to check on Bryce. And one never kens what the future will bring for me and my own sequel!

Now a question for the author!  Debbie Lynne, what type of research was necessary to know so much regarding the life of the serfs and the nobles and the way they led their lives?  Did you take research trips to England?

I have shelves of medieval research books as well as pages of bookmarks on the internet. I also have a friend who lives in England “Waving at Anne” who has kept me straight, sometimes very painfully so, but I do want to represent the truth of history in England. And if I make a mistake, I can honestly say it is not from lack of trying. I have had to change many a plot and twist because I learned something was not truly feasible but more of American myth of medieval times. I have not gone to England…yet. That is actually in the works. My hubby is planning for us to to go when we finish building our house. But I am asking for maybe a year of rest before taking on that venture. But I am looking forward to it!

By the way the title was absolutely perfect!

Thank you! I agonized over that title. It wouldn’t come and then on my last read through of my edits it hit me!

And here is a little bit about this fascinating book!

The Perfect Bride

Avice Touchet has always dreamed of marrying for love and that love would be her best friend, Philip Greslet. She’s waited five years for him to see her as the woman she’s become but when a visiting lord arrives with secrets that could put her father in prison, Avice must consider a sacrificial marriage.
Philip Greslet has worked his whole life for one thing—to be a castellan—and now it is finally in his grasp. But when Avice rebuffs his new lord’s attentions, Philip must convince his best friend to marry the lord against his heart’s inclination to have her as his own.

October Song by Beverly Lewis

This book was a compilation of many  characters from past books.  It felt a little difficult at times, to know when one story ended and the next began.  I liked some of the stories but there was no real connection, too much, from once story to another.

Not my favorite work from this author, but have loved practically everything else I have read so will continue to be an avid Lewis reader!

An Amish Heirloom by Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Irvin

I really enjoyed this set of four novellas by these well known Amish authors.  This combination was a hit for me and I especially enjoyed the one written by Beth Wiseman, which covered two periods of time, then and now and the cedar chest that held some secrets of the past.  Loved it!

I enjoyed the other stories as well and highly recommend this if you enjoy Amish fiction.

I received an ebook copy of this book from NetGalley.  All thoughts are my own.

The Hawaiian Discovery by Wanda E. Brunstetter and Jean Brunstetter

This was book 2 of the series by these authors.  I have read book one, and felt that it would be an important to read book 1 first to better understand how two Amish girls, Mandy and Ellen make a connection to Hawaii.

So that being said, I have really enjoyed most of the books by these authors but this one was not my favorite one.

I did enjoy the easy reading style and understandability, yet some events seemed a little too unrealistic.  I had no trouble finishing the book and it was a totally different Amish theme then I would normally expect, which brought a definite interest on my part especially since my husband was from Hawaii.  I think you will enjoy the book.  But just not her best, I don't think.

No Less Days By Amanda G. Stevens

This book drew me right in.  The concept of the man staying at a young age while in the world around him everyone, aged and eventually dies is captivating.  The beginning was really good, and grabs you right from the first few pages.

It was definitely a different book than I have read in the past. The adventures keep you reading to find out how each situation resolves.

You will want to read this one!

I received a complimentary copy or this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligaton to post a review.

Mormonville by Jeff Call

This was a fun book about a New York reported assigned to find out all the low-down on those Mormons.  This was a book that was very humorous and entertaining.  I enjoyed it a lot!  I let me mother read it and she said it made her laugh and she was glad to have read it.

The Backcountry Brides Collection by Multiple Authors

This book had several new authors for me.  It was a nice addition to Barbour books Brides Collections.  It was so fun to read about these 18th Century women, brave and courageous in so many ways!  I doubt I would have been!

The time periods span from 1754-1792.  This for sure would be a time of great discovery in our country in a dangerous time where life was much more difficult in many ways.  These were sweet, clean stories and full of adventure.  Never a dull moment!

I hope that you will take time to read these great stories!

I received a copy of this book from an author.  I was under no obligation to review.  All thoughts are my own.

The Telling by Beverly Lewis

This book hit home for me.  I recently helped a friend find her biological parents and also my own mother find her father after a long, long search!  So I loved this book.

Lettie disappears and her family doesn't know why.  She is searching for her first born given away in adoption.

Loved this book so much!

Great Cape O' Colors (Capa de colores) by Karl Beckstrand and John Collado

This children's book by Karl Beckstrand and John Collado is about a magic cape.  With different "super heros" and multicultural, this a learning book for children, for sure!

Teaches imagination, colors and Spanish and English language through pictures and words.

I think this is a good way to motivate children for reading and learning about new languages.  Your child will enjoy this.

I received an ebook copy from the author.  All thoughts are my own.
