Amish Country Ransom by Mary Alford
So I had to give the book 4 stars because it really wasn't all that Amish. It takes place in the Amish country, as the title says and there are a couple of Amish characters that play a minor role but it was mainly about two characters, Jade and Ethan who were not Amish. The book was an exciting read and I definitely wanted to finish it, but if you were looking for a typical Amish book, this was not such. It was a good read, very exciting, and lots of action. It touched upon some sensitive topics, guns, rape and violence, so to be aware. I won this book in a giveaway. I was not required to review.

Hemlock and Homicide A Smiley and McBlythe Mystery Series. Book 13
This next book about Smiley and McBlythe was another excellent mystery by this author. I loved the dog factor that is added into the book. As Steve, the blind homicide detective, adds a dog to his arsenal, we see that this dog has special abilities that does a lot for him. Heather is swamped with work at the time a murder occurs and Steve needs some additional help for this case and hires a driver, Rasheed. There is a lot of action that occurs in the poisoning cases that Steve tries to solve. Rasheed is a new character that brings new and interesting things to the story. I think you will like this mystery, the suspense and really enjoy all of Steve's special talents in solving cases!

What I Left for You by Liz Tolsma (Echoes of the Past Book 3)
This book was absolutely amazing to me. I related to it in so many ways. First this was a dual time book. WWII and now. I have heard so many of the experiences that my mother had in WWII in Germany and Poland that so well related exactly to this book. That the author has written about her ancestral home is a real connection for me and also the fact that the current day character Mckenna uses genealogical research methodology to find and unlock the secrets to their family's past is also amazing to me as that is my profession. So this book held my attention from page one throughout the entire book. It was a sad story as WWII stories usually are but dealt with a different cultural group of people called the Lemkos. The book will hold your attention till the very end. It was THAT good! I highly recommend this book and am so happy that I read it myself! It gives me such an understanding of the hardships in life and to appreciate all we have.
I received an ARC copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Unforgotten: (Amish Romantic Suspense Story with Forgiveness and Second Chances) By Shelley Shepard Gray
Bethanne has found life hard after an attempted assault. She lives with the memory and it fills her mind. Her cousin is running for Miss Crittenden County and has a stalker. Its an amazing Amish suspense that keeps you reading because you have to find out who the culprit is. The characters are great and the storyline is very realistic. It definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. And of course there is romance and so it has all the good stuff! Well recommended!

Cowboy Santa (Cowboy Academy #6) By Melinda Curtis
This book totally hooked me in from page one! Being called to the principal's office brings back memories as a kid and a parent. The two seven-year-olds definitely have something up their sleeves. Loved it. Chandler and Izzy, both single parents definitely have different opinions as to the decorating job she is doing at his ranch. Their kids have plans and they will do what is needed to make sure things go as they want in their matchmaking agenda! This is a sweet Christmas romance. I really enjoyed it and especially the two kids, Sam and Mae who are so cute. Chandler and Izzy are somewhat reluctant from past relationships. But their kids are determined!

Freedom's Promise: Path to Freedom Book 3 by Pegg Thomas
I am loving this series, and this book was really, really good. It was so engaging that I had a really hard time stopping for the evening to get some sleep! Yes, it was captivating and a wonderful addition to this book series. You won't want to miss this wonderful historical taking place during the slave days and the Quakers in Ohio. The characters were so well developed and you felt that you were there watching the events unfold. Zachary, a freed slave and a Quaker, finds an escaped slave and the storyline that follows is so engaging you will be completely enthralled. I definitely was. As he helps others, he is at risk to lose his freedom. There is a second storyline in the book with Daniel looking for his grandson in the Quaker community. This is a wonderful read. I know others will enjoy this book, especially those who enjoy historical fiction.

The Unplanned Christmas Family by Angie Dicken (An Uplifting Inspirational Romance)
For Natalie it is time for a break from work! But grandmother's have a way of "roping" you into something that you may not have planned on doing, and such is the case as her grandmother requests her help with a retirement home Christmas fundraiser. Thad is the director of the retirement home and he and Natalie don't always see eye to eye as fundraising plans move forward. I love how the author's books are from the state of Iowa, my neighbor state growing up as a child. I lived "across" the street in a Minnesota border town and my friends and I would ride our bikes "out of state" on a frequent basis. So Iowa really has a warm place in my heart. The setting of the book just makes you feel "cozy". This was a sweet story of a matchmaker type, which I just love with a feel-good ending. This is a very nice Christmas read!
I received an ARC copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Healing Touch by Suzanne Woods Fisher
So I totally loved this book! I loved Annie and her ambitions to do what Amish girls don't really do! I love Dok Stoltzfus and wish she was my doctor! She doesn't just heal the body, but also the feelings of those who need comfort. How would that have been? This was a totally engaging book that was hard to put down. It was a touching story that has both Amish and English people and how they work together. As Annie works for Dok, she feels the need to further her knowledge in helping people, but her parents don't quite agree and have reminded Dok that she will be needed in the spring at the family farm.
Great book from this amazing author. Totally loved it. I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Unlikely Suitor: An Amish Christmas Story (Unlikely Series Book 6) by Jennifer Spredemann
This was a sweet story around Jaycee Parker, all grown up. This was a sweet and realistic story. Things that happen in real life. The story tells of Jaycee and his meeting Lauren. Jaycee is all a young woman could want. He and Lauren have had lives that were not always easy. As Jaycee shares his faith with Lauren, it is clear that God has His hand in their new paths in life. The search for Lauren's family reminds me so much of my search for my mother's family.
His sister and her boyfriend are a sub-plot, with their story as well. It is a fast moving story of love, forgiveness and family unity. But life happens and things aren't always perfect.
I love how the characters from the previous Unlikely books still come into play and add richness to the story. This book has a real engaging plot that you can't put down. I highly recommend this book and all the previous ones! I have loved them all!
I received an ARC of this book for which I am most grateful. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Small Town Gamble by Melinda Curtis (Love in Harmony Valley Book 14
I really like this series with the small town romances! The characters in the book were interesting characters and it was enjoyable reading. Things in their pasts weren't always good and sometimes the past comes to the present. As Ann and her daughter make a move to Las Vegas Annie tries to get a job there. Her ex-husband's past puts a shadow on her as Sam discovers his past during a background check. It's an engaging story that I am sure you will enjoy.

Pretending to be the Mountain Man's Wife by Misty M. Beller (Brothers of Sapphire Ranch book 6
This is a continuation of this series where the family sapphires are stolen and Gil is definitely going to find a way to get them back to his family. It is definitely not going to be an easy job. He meets the daughter of Mr. McPharland who is also trying to escape her abusive father who has controlled her life. I really liked this book. It was hard to put down and was definitely an excellent addition to the series. It was a captivating read for me. There is danger and adventure and some unexpected romance. As Gil pretends to be the husband of Jess to protect her from the demands of her father, there are secrets that unfold.

A Courtship For The Amish Spinster by Vannetta Chapman (Indiana Amish Market)
Such a great book! I really enjoyed this story of Eunice and Zeb. I have enjoyed every book of this series and this was a great addition to the series. Eunice isn't the usual homemaking Amish young woman, but rather likes to fix mechanical things such as what would be typically something a man would do. Her father gives her a chance to find work or to find someone to have a relationship with or he will send her to relatives in Kentucky to have a better chance of finding her match. She is the only one of her sisters that has no relationship. Zeb has a son but has lost his wife leaving him sad and sometimes a little rough around the edges. He needs someone to be a nanny for his son and she needs a job.
This is a really sweet story. The girl in the picture looks a lot like my granddaughter, so I think she is adorable! If you enjoy Amish romance, you will really enjoy this book. I sure did! I received an ARC of this book and was not required to leave a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Color of Home by Kit Tosello
This was a good novel about finding our homes, where we can be ourselves. The book is enlightening and detailed. I did find it slower moving. The book is written in first person. The book touches on Alzheimer's which of course is a difficult situation. It was a good book as it progressed.

The Blooming of Delphinium by Holly Varni (A Moonberry Lake Novel)
Her name is Delphinium and she owns a flower shop. There are a group of lively senior citizens from an assisted living home who love her flower shop as their go-to hangout. Delphinium can tell all about someone by their scent which represents some type of a flower and that represents the person's traits. The other characters in the book are fun to engage with and "get to know" of their individual personalities. As the book started for me it was a bit slow moving, but definitely moved faster as the book progressed. There is some romance and some quirky fun as well. A good read.

Risking It All With The Paramedic by Janice Lynn (Medical Romance)
I was not previously aware that Harlequin had medical romances. So this was my first introduction to this genre. I wasn't sure if the medical part would be for me, but I did find it rather captivating. This is also a new author for me and so lots of new things for me to read. I enjoyed the story as Ivy and Caleb are on the same plane to Normandy for veterans. As medical incidents occur, the events bring them together and sparks are kindled. But when they are back to life at home they assume that this was not going to work out. This is a nice introduction to both the genre and the author for me. I am happy I was able to read this!

Murder on the Colorado by Bruce Hammack ( A Fen Maguire Mystery Book 6)
This book is an instant attention grabber from page one. This has been a very engaging series. The author has a great way of writing mysteries that makes it a very captivating read and without the gruesome details. I have really enjoyed each book in the series and I think you will too. It is really a great page turner. I received an arc copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Christmas Gathering by Shelley Shepard Gray, Lenora Worth, Rachel J. Good
This book contains three separate stories of Amish holiday time. They are sweet stories and each is different than the others. I enjoyed each of the stories. The stories were all good and I think my favorite was The Christmas Reunion. In some ways reminded me of family holiday get-togethers and there is often a "stray" person as a guest. In this case it was a non-Amish young man and how he related to the family members. The second story was about a long-standing family feud of two Amish families. It's interesting how it continues through time until...a new romance blossoms between the feuding families. The last story was about "Rebel Amish" and the problems that occurred as a group of young Amish youth start a band, which is not abiding by the Amish rules. I enjoyed all the stories and they were fun holiday reads.
I received an ARC of this book from one of the authors. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

An Amish Christmas Table : Four Amish Christmas Sweet Romance Stories Tracy Fredrychowski et.al.
This book consists of four novellas revolving around Christmas. These are perfect for the upcoming Christmas season and really for any time of year. I read Tracy Fredychowski's novella entitled Love beneath the pine. Loved this story as it reminded me of being a caretaker, and yet still remembering to care for yourself, physically, spiritually and other ways, as well and to allow others to help you. Sometimes we are so involved as caretakers we forget we can't always do things alone. The antique table that Isaac restores, is a beautiful part of the book as it tells the story of times and people in the past. It's beautiful and a sweet story.

Winning the Mountain Man's Love (Brothers of Sapphire Ranch Book 5) By Misty M. Beller

Virginia (Daughters of the Lost Colony 1602) by Shannon McNear
This story of Virginia is a fictional version of what might have happened to Virginia (Ginny) after her capture by another tribe. It is a fascinating story that kept me reading every page, just as the previous books of this series. Ginny was the first English child born in the colony. The not knowing of what happened to the colony is fascinating to think about. I kept wondering whether they all were killed or moved to another location. The book has a lot of historical information which I know I would not have known about, had I not read this book. The research which went into this writing is amazing.
I loved this Christian historical fiction story. The characters seemed real and the storyline was well written. There were very difficult parts very likely similar to things that could certainly have actually happened.

Last Mission by Lisa Childs
This is the last book in the 12 book series. I enjoyed the fire scenes and the mystery portion. I am not a fan of language and spicy romance scenes, but I will review this mentioning that those two factors exist, but will rate according to the suspense and mystery portions which were very interesting and keeps you on the edge of your seats. I love a good mystery and it definitely fit that bill!

A Sister's Amish Courtship (Amish Courtship Series Book 6) By Jennifer Spredemann
This is the final book in this series and I am sorry to see the series end, but it did so with another great addition. As Jane Eicher and Benuel Mast get to know one another, Jane and Ben find themselves quickly attracted to one another and apparently another person is there to cause problems in their life. The book, as with many of the author's books, teaches lessons that may require forgiveness from God and the Amish community. It is a fast moving story but very well paced. No boring moments to skip past. It is engaging to see family members from previous books. I recommend this book. I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are mine.

I loved book 6. Savannah suddenly discovers her husband has taken off and she has no idea what has happened. This leads her into a difficult position as she wonders how to continue with things as they now are. She finds respite with her grandmother and finds out things about her heritage and that of her missing husband. As she learns of the Amish, she finds confrontation from the community members because of the outside influence they feel she is bringing into the community. Will she find her husband and the reason for his disappearance?

A Cowgirl Finds Home (The Blackwell Belles Book 2) By Carol Ross
Book 2 of The Blackwell Belles Series was a great addition and a very fine read. It will get your reading attention from the start and will keep you reading till the end. The Belles were once a trick riding group with interesting names as well. They fell apart after a bad accident caused them to stop their riding group. The book had a bit of humor and I have found that to be a feature I really enjoy in my reading material. Although this is book 2, it can easily be a standalone in my opinion. This is not a love at first site type of book, but only time can tell, right??

A Cowgirl Never Forgets by Melinda Curtis (The Blackwell Belles Book 1)
I was excited to see the new series called The Blackwell Belles I have loved the Blackwell series that I have read in the past. I can tell I am going to really enjoy and look forward to the rest of the series, as well. It was a great start to the series, a clean romance, with some fun times. It was great to read an uplifting book that keeps you reading. Clem and Maggie have been friends forever, but can it be more? Can a rodeo accident make a change in this? The story continues with the Done Roamin' Ranch as a part of Clem's past. I can see this is going to a great series!

Into The Starlight by Amanda Cabot (Secrets of Sweetwater Crossing Book 3)
Upon returning home to Sweetwater Crossing, many changes had happened to Joanna, including becoming a widow. The last book of the series does not disappoint and the changes there makes her feel that it is no longer home. Della and Burke Finley arrive in hopes of finding what really happened to Della's almost husband. This book is the conclusion of this interesting series. It has just the right amount of mystery to make the book very interesting to the reader. It's a good book and a good fit for the previous two books. A very worthwhile read!
I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Book 1
Emma is anxiously awaiting the birth of her child when tragedy strikes and claims all her happiness. She tries to cope but needs to find her way to recovery, but she can't find the peace she needs despite all the attempts to help her from family and friends. The firm ways of the Ordnung of her people is not helping in her situation. She searches for the way to peace through Jesus' teachings bringing the hope she needs to overcome her trials.
I love how this book teaches us to rely on Jesus and the teachings of the Bible. And to have faith in God's love for us. It's a very engaging book of a strong Amish woman who needs to understand and follow God's plan for her and her family and find the resolve for her emotional journey.
I highly recommend this wonderful book!
Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required or asked to leave a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
Book 2
Rebecca's personality is anything other than the typical sweet Amish woman. Her past continues to haunt her as she struggles to not allow others to come to close to her. She is definitely in need of something in her life that will help her chart a better course for her future.
She finds herself caring for an Amish woman whose past also haunts her. The two of them find a common road traveled with secrets that they can't find a way to resolve their pasts. I love the lessons learned, the trust that only God can provide and repentance and forgiving oneself. It's an excellent example of Christian faith and love.
I read this book in one session. It was too good to put down. And there were no slow moments. It was totally captivating. It had me on page one!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
Book 3
I loved getting to read book 3 of this series. The Amish women of Lawrence County series always seems to have a good Christian theme and this one has as well.
Anna is living in a world of anxieties and after her faith is stretched to the limit, family and friends hopefully will give her the support she needs. After Simon leaves just before their wedding, how will she be able to trust again? After he returns, will she be able to have a life with him? With God's help the decisions will become clear.

Liberty A Historical Novel by Dean Hughes
I really enjoyed this book very much. It was a historical fiction based on actual history of Joseph Smith and his followers. His fictional story brought real life to the events and characters that are involved. The trials and the hardships were all accurate and brought you right into Liberty Jail and the events that transpired. A lot of research for accuracy was clearly a part of this book on the history of the beginnings of the Latter-Day Saints. Taking place in the early 1800's we can read about life in those times as well. It is well worth a read! I definitely recommend this interesting and engaging book!

Covering Grace (The Cañon City Chronicles Series Book 6)

Grace is strong-willed and looking for work which she does find as a trick rider. But things are quite dangerous and her friend Dan doesn't feel that it is safe and is concerned about her well-being and feels protective of her. The story progresses well at a good pace and throw in some suspense and you have a great story that I recommend you read!

Hotshot's Dangerous Liaison by Lisa Childs
This is the author's 100th Harlequin romance. That in itself is quite an accomplishment. It is a steamy one. A Seaside Amish Courtship by Jennifer Spredemann (Book 5 of the Amish Courtship Series)
This story started out with a tragic heartbreak of Becca as Jonathan, her fiance unexpectedly dies as their wedding is just about to happen. The honeymoon has been planned by Jonathan and although heartbroken, Becca decides that Jonathan would want her to see Pinecraft Florida. There she meets his best friend, Zane. It is a surprise to both of them as to how they soon become good friends and perhaps more. But this surely won't sit well with many people. It is an emotional story, one of faith, forgiveness and love. I love how characters from previous books appear and become a part of this book and add to the wonderful cast of characters. This author has added wonderful Christian thoughts and scripture which makes them all the better.I received an arc.All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Mackinac Island Beacon by Carrie Fancett Pagels
I found this to be a sweet Christian story of hope and love. The author tells of a young woman, Valerie whose nightmares continue to haunt her and Susan whose own experiences are difficult and yet she works diligently at the orphanage. There are mysterious happenings occuring and they become good friends. This is a heartwarming story with a little bit of everything for you to discover. There are engaging characters in the story and the location and storylines bring back characters from previous books making you feel like you know them personally. It's a very good book and filled with lots of great reading. I recommend this title.

Hidden in the Night by Elizabeth Goddard
This book hooked me right in from page 1. Ivy is on the job looking for a missing manuscript. But wow! There is much more to the story than what first appears. Nolan Long and Ivy have some big adventure ahead, including an Alaska blizzard and lots of action going forward. The suspense alone will keep you reading as you quickly turn the pages to see what happens next. I love the Alaskan setting of this fascinating book. I feel as though I need to go there myself! This author is amazing and knows how to keep readers captivated. I highly recommend this story!

Mary's Calico Hope by Anne Blackburne
I loved this story of The Heart of the Amish Series! It was a sweet story of Mary, who was in a serious and tragic accident causing her many surgeries, pain and the use of crutches. She meets the Mennonite doctor and the story continues. There are many ups and downs as Mary has pretty much resigned herself that she won't marry. And being a baptized Amish, a relationship with someone not of her faith would cause her to be shunned. Its a heartwarming story. I felt it was a very good read.
