Letters of Comfort by Wanda E. Brunstetter The Friendship Letters Series Book 2

I have now read both books of this series and I loved how they continued with friends and their relationships.  This book tells a tragic story for Doretta Schwartz who is counting the days to her wedding, a wedding that does not happen.  As depression changes the always happy Doretta, she sinks further and further into her mental challenges.

The book tells about real life issues that happen to many people for different reasons, and it shares her trials and need for dear friends and family to help her find her happiness again. I found this to be a very thought provoking story and I enjoyed it very much.  I look forward to the next book of the series.  I love the letter-writing theme as this was a big part of my earlier years, as well.

The All American by Susie Finkbeiner

I really enjoyed this book placed in the 50's, which I can totally relate to and love hearing about in books.  I enjoyed the family here and the tale was told by Bertha and her sister Flossie. As the book continues the everyday life of this family is terribly abrupted as a townsperson claims the father of Bertha and Flossie is a member of the Communist party.

Bertha is enthralled with baseball and playing with the neighbor boys.  She dreams of playing on a minor league women's baseball team.  But will she have the opportunity to make her dream come true?

This book was so true to this period of time in history and the fear people were experiencing.  Loved the book, the author's writing style and the history this reminded me about.  I will definitely be reading more from the author.

Rebecca (Daughters of the Lost Colony Book 3)

I have loved this series and this book was really good.  I really have come to enjoy historical fiction and this author's writing style is always attention grabbing and well researched. Although fiction in nature, you could see the historical elements that set the scene and created a captivating story.  The  cast list and the glossary were definitely helpful in knowing some of the terms used and getting to know the characters in the book.  The story revolves around the well-known Pocahontas, John Smith and John Rolfe.  Historically there are conflicts in the real history and so it was interesting to see how this was handled in the book.  It was a very enlightening book and helped me remember some of the events of that time.  I really enjoyed it!

The Crimson Dress by Jennifer Spredemann

This was an Amish retelling of The Scarlet Letter.  It was a book that will really make you think!  It is a book that will show that we all have our shortcomings and none have attained perfection.  We all are learning, experiencing, and growing in Christ.  I honestly don't know what to say without giving away the story.  And the story will definitely bring unexpected events. It is a teaching story of love, forgiveness and repentance.  It is well worth reading.

A Cowboy's Fourth of July by Melinda Curtis (The Cowboy Academy Book 2)

I love a sweet, clean romance and this book was that.  It's a second chance around for Dix Youngblood, who has had a crush on Allison  Burns since school years.  The book is definitely a good read and very entertaining.  The characters were well written and I enjoyed this book very much. It was fun to watch how both Allison and Dix grew as the book progressed.  I recommend this book!

This is Where it Ends by Cindy K. Sproles

This book touched me in several ways.  It really, really moved me and it causes you to think.  Minerva is a 94 year old widow, lonely and heartbroken.  It really will grab you till the end.  As Minerva tells her story, your heart will feel her pain by what she knows about her late husband and things she doesn't know, as well.  As she tries to keep her late husband's secret she discovers things she never knew about. It's a story of love and forgiveness and hope.  The story touched me and I felt all the feelings that Minerva told about.  Very good read.
