Her Heart for a Compass by Sarah Ferguson Duchess of York

This was a new acquisition at my local library.  And it grabbed my interest simply because of who the author was.  As I started reading, I felt quickly that she was a talented writer and I definitely wanted to finish this book.  Knowing that she has definite insight into the royals that she was writing about made me wonder what was it really like to be amongst the titled?

The arranged marriages would be a hardship and that would definitely would not be a great part of that life. The character Margaret was a strong woman in this story.  I loved how history and fiction came together to create this very interesting read!

Rocky Mountain Rendezvous by Misty M. Beller (Sisters of the Rockies Book 1)

Another great book by this author. I really enjoyed this historical fiction book and as usual it is filled with adventure and of course there is romance.  I loved the story of the four sisters fulfilling their father's last request to return a special item to a Piegan Blackfoot woman who saved his life a long time ago.  But where to find her, that is no easy task, if even possible at all. This was a Christian fiction which I totally enjoy.  I enjoyed the love and caring that the sisters gave to one another.

Thanks to the publisher for a complimentary copy of this book.  All thoughts are my own.

Her Only Wish (A Season in Pinecraft Book 2) by Shelley Shepard Gray

A very nicely done Amish book. It is a romance for several couples which was nice and added interesting characters to the story lines.  I loved how Betsy was adventurous and wanted to try new things that she had never done before.  She has a "life list" that she hopes to complete on her month long visit to Pinecraft.  This is the story of August and Betsy, both of whom had some struggles with parents who were controlling in different ways and had not given their children very many opportunities to spread their wings.  I enjoyed Betsy's determination and strength and her ability to step out of her comfort zone.   The characters were well developed and believable.

I recommend this book for readers of Amish fiction.  I really enjoyed this book.  I received a complimentary copy from the publisher.  All thoughts are my own.

Identity by Nora Roberts

The Swindler's Daughter by Stephenia H. McGee

I am so glad I read this historical fiction book!  I absolutely loved it.  It was absolutely captivating to me.  I loved the plot, the characters and just everything!  The mystery and romance kept me feeling engaged. I enjoyed how they trusted in God's plan for them and so yes, it is a Christian read.  Lillian was appealing to me as the protagonist character and all the personalities she had to deal with, including her mother.  I found the book was hard for me to stop reading and finished it too quickly!  I will be looking out for more from this author!

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review.  All opinions are my own.

A Widower's Amish Courtship by Jennifer Spredemann (Amish Courtship Series Book 2)

Another great book by this author!  I enjoy how the books are "real" with real life problems and issues.  I loved the characters.  The book introduces Sammy's father and gives you some insight into the sage wisdom that Sammy comes up with in other stories that I have read.  It's a book well worth reading.  I highly recommend it.

You can preorder this  book at this link now.  It will be released, June 1, 2023.

Veil of Destruction by Vannetta Chapman (A Kessler Effect Novel)

I have read each of the Kessler Effect books so far and that has been an amazing tale!  I have become a fan of dystopian thanks to this author.  This was  a book that makes you think of what could happen and how would you survive under these circumstances.  This book has no dull moments.  It is hard to imagine a world that has come under such a situation as to have no communication, and all that we have come to accept as normal life.  I found it interesting  how they had to depend on one another and how they had to determine who could be trusted and who was not to be trusted.

OK, this was a great read.  And I don't want to give too much away, so am just saying, you will not be sorry that you read this.  The author has talent!

It Happened One Night by Melinda Curtis (A Grandma Dotty Sweet Romcom) Summer Kisses Book 5

I enjoy sweet Grandma Dotty books and this was a great continuation of the series.  She is always a fun character to read about.  Her antics keep everyone on their toes!

The story is very enjoyable and is a cute matchmaker story, and you know who the matchmaker is! This was a fun contemporary romcom!  I loved it.

Forbidden Love by Debra Torres (Willow Secrets of the Pen)

This was a very different story line that was intriguing and interesting.  It was interesting to me as my father was a newspaper printer and newspapers are slowing or quickly disappearing for online news.  So I can see why this would still be an important news source for the Amish. This is the story of Johanna and Judah who tell their personal story throughout the book. She is baptized Amish and he is "English".

This is a clean Amish story with action and drama. It is a story of forgiving and personal growth. It will keep you reading to find out how things turn out!

I enjoyed the book and the characters and am glad I was able to read this interesting story! I received a complimentary copy of this book.  All opinions are my own.

The Librarian of Auschwitz: The Graphic Novel by Antonio Iturbe

This was a very different book for me.  It was also touching as I have visited Auschwitz which is now in Poland as OÅ›wiÄ™cim.

It was a tragic historical graphic account of the experiences of a young Jewish girl as she enters the camp and because she was known as a great lover of books, becomes the camp's librarian.  It was a different story as to some of her experiences but very moving to read about.

Her Pretend Courtship by Jocelyn McClay and Vannetta Chapman

Their Unpredictable Path by Jocelyn McClay

This was my first book by this author and I was impressed by the enjoyable storyline and the story engaged me from the very first page.  It was a really sweet story with two people who created a pretend relationship to avoid the "attentions" of family, and other "well-intentions friends who want them both to find a suitable match.  It is a really enjoyable story and I like the author's style and definitely want to read her books.

Together these two books make a great combo!  You will love both stories!

An Unlikely Amish Match by Vannetta Chapman:

Susannah Beiler has decided to protect the other young Amish women from Micah Fisher.  He is definitely not your model Amish man and Susanna decides that the other women won't seek after him if she decides to date him herself.

This was a really good book and has lots of touching and tender moments in it.  And there was humor as well. It was one of those reads that you decide to read in one sitting because you don't want to stop reading.  Micah was a lovable character even though he doesn't always abide by the strict Amish rules and regulations. There are some surprising twists in the story and the characters grow and learn about themselves and others.  Kind of like we do!  I enjoyed this story very much.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from an author.  All thoughts are my own.

Second Chances on Huckleberry Hill (The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill Book 11

You wouldn't want to miss even a single book from this author.  Every book she writes, leaves you wanting more!  And book 11 in this series was exactly that!  More please!

The author has another hit!  I love a good matchmaker story starring Felty and Anna and this was wonderful.  The humor, the emotions and family relationships were well captured and I hate to see that I am nearing the end of the book as I am reading.  I love this light-hearted writing style that gives you that "feel-good" feeling at the end of the book.  Don't miss this one!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley.  All thoughts are my own.

His Sweet Surprise by Angie Dicken

A delightful Iowa story.  Love this area, having grown up 1/2 mile from the Iowa border.  The sweet midwestern region comes through in the story details. As Lance returns home to help in the apple orchard, he finds his ex-girlfriend there, along with her cute daughter, Maelyn.  This is a sweet story line of family and the love of family members.  I love the "sweet surprise", as I have personally experienced such surprises in my own family lines.  I love the forgiveness and imperfect families.  It's just a really nice story that you will enjoy!

I received a complimentary copy of this book.  All thoughts are my own.
