An Amish Reward by J.E.B. Spredemann

I loved this modern parable like story of Rebecca and Isaac and their trust in God, their love of family and even their mistakes, or sins. This story is from a set of  contemporary Biblical type stories.  We see similar characters to those of the Bible who learn from mistakes and try to follow the ways of God, sometimes imperfectly.

A very sweet story that I was lucky to have been able to read.  I liked how Aunt Lucy somewhat warned Rebecca that no one is perfect.  But we must lift each other up and love them through it all.

A great story!  Now to read the other books in the series!

I received an ebook version of this book from the author.  All thoughts are my own.

The Long Fall by Bruce Hammack

Another great mystery by Bruce Hammack.  He's a very talented author and I highly recommend this interesting novella.  If you love a good who-dun-it mystery, this book will be a great read for you.  I love the cooperation between Steve Smiley and Heather McBlythe as they work their ways through the evidence.

The book is clean and very interesting and definitely captivating.

Exercise is Murder by Bruce Hammack

Bruce Hammack is a very good author.  I am a new fan! I didn't find one typo or grammatical error in his story.  It was perfect in every way!  I love a good mystery, always have been a fan of that, but this was an excellent and well researched book.  It flowed well and was a real gem! And a blind, retired homicide detective definitely makes for a great story!  His observations are true talent!

I will be reading more of this author's books.  They are super!

Amish Friends Gatherings Cookbook by Wanda E. Brunstetter

I love cookbooks and I love Amish food, so I had to have this.  I have several of Wanda's wonderful cookbooks.  This was such a nice one.  It had a great collection from drinks to main course dishes and they were so very appetizing.  I can't wait to try them out.  I love Wanda's big gathering recipes and the wonderful pictures.

It looks wonderful and I know I will get lots of use from the tips and recipes. I can't wait to try these especially the BBQ Ribs.

The Producer's Unlikely Bride by Lorana Hoopes

This was a fun contemporary clean romance.  Justin is a burned-out reality show producer whose boss sees he needs a mandatory vacation to get back into things. Ava is a romance writer, with spiritual feelings, Justin not so.  They meet because their vacation getaway beach house was double booked.\ by them both.  And they can only get a refund after 3 days.  Their forced togetherness appears as a possible business advantage for both and a "fake relationship" is formed.  They are complete opposites in every possible way.  How is this going to work?

This is a fun read and very modern in it's scope.  I enjoyed the book and the main characters.  It was a fun and clean read and an entertaining read.  Lots of fun and surprises.

This Healing Journey by Misty M. Beller (Book 7 Heart of the Mountains Series)

This has been a phenomenal series.  I have read these books and loved them.  This one was just as eamazing as the others.  The trials.  The characters.  Everything you want in a great historical book.  This author is definitely one of my favorites now.  She's amazing!

It's another action packed story from this author.  No dull moments. And you won't be able to do much else, because you won't want to stop reading...

Their adventure's are filled with drama and are pretty intense.

Great series, great book and a captivating storyline.

Angel's Serenade by Linda Weaver Clarke

I loved this sweet historical romance by Linda Weaver Clarke.  All her books are clean, sweet and very fun and interesting to read.  I was happy to be able to read this one.  The story and the characters were caring and good people who were concerned with others and their well-being.

It had adventure too with the river pirates.  I have to be honest and had never heard of them before, so this was something new for me.  But after I thought about it, I see how this could definitely have been a problem for those traveling along the rivers and being vulnerable to attack.

I know you will enjoy this book.  It is a very good book and I wouldn't have wanted to miss even one of Linda Weaver Clarke's wonderful books.

The Noble Guardian by Michelle Griep

This was a great read!  It was the conclusion of a series called Bow Street  Runners Trilogy.  I have missed one of this trilogy but they are individually wonderful books.

As Abby takes off across England to her forthcoming marriage to a man she barely knows, danger lurks at every corner in her travels.  She hires Captain Samuel Thatcher as a guardian.  Their adventures are many.  It's such a page turner book!  Yes, you won't want to put this one down.

And what happens with the marriage?  You will definitely need to read every last page!  This book is too good to put down.

The Farmer's Bride by Kathleen Fuller (Amish Brides of Birch Creek Book 2)

I loved this Amish book!  I so enjoy this author and so I was sure that would be the case once more and it was!  So happy to have been able to read this.  I have to admit I missed book 1 somehow, but that's OK, I loved it and was able to get right into this book with no problems.

It was a fun read and I love a book that includes humor.  The book is a page turner, which I love.  Nothing slow moving here.

I highly recommend this great story.  So good!!!!

Snowed in with the Single Dad by Melinda Curtis

Melinda's books are excellent.  This series is wonderful.  And me, I especially love the "pedigree" chart at the beginning of the book.  Being a genealogist, it's my life!

Mitch and Laurel are featured in this book.  Love their characters and each character that takes part in this book.  Their romance doesn't start instantly and Mitch, the town mayor is raising a daughter and is fine with his life as it is.  Laurel is expecting and it's fun to watch their relationship as it progresses.

This is a wonderful book and shows that their are second chances, even though there are challenges to face.

I loved this book, and I don't want to miss the next installment.  I just can't wait!

I received an ebook copy of this book.  All thoughts are my own.

A welcome at Our Door by Amy Clipston

This was the fourth and final book of the Amish Homestead Series.  I recognized the characters from previous books as they moved on with their lives after the death of their mother.  However, Cindy Riehl was not able to move on even though life moved ahead without her.  Feeling misunderstood by other family members, she meets Drew and is immediately taken by him.  But there is a big problem, he is not Amish.  What to do, follow her heart or the advice of family, friends and religious beliefs?

A difficult time lies ahead as opposition tells her to forget him and find a nice Amish boy in their community.

I really enjoyed this book and found it a sweet and tender book.  Feelings were strong and that made decisions all the more difficult.

I recommend this book.  It's a good read!

Seeing Red, Short Story Review by Bruce Hammack

Seeing Red by Bruce Hammack

Bruce Hammack is a new author to me.  I love the chance to read a new style of writing and even a different genre.  This short story by Bruce Hammack, was really a fun read of Steve Smiley, a member of the Houston Police Department whose assignment was car theft.  His hopes were to advance to homicide officer.

Although a short story, it developed in a very intriguing manner and it made you want to keep reading and definitely read more from this author.

I received a copy of this story from the author.  All thoughts are my own.

An Amish Reunion by Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Irvin

An Amish Reunion by Amy Clipson, Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Irvin is a wonderful compilation of 4 sweet stories of different Amish reunions.  The stories were heartwarming, fun to read and very enjoyable.  I loved Kelly Irvin's book which centered around the location of Jamesport, the first Amish town that I personally visited and so it made it a great read for me as I could picture the town and the people as I saw them there.

Each story was individual and unique and different to read.  Some of the topics were very serious and thought provoking.  I think it was a realistic way to present some difficult and hard issues of the Amish.  Sometimes we don't read about the difficulties that also come to them as well.

A very good book. I am very glad that I was able to read it!

The Refuge by Ann H. Gabhart

Seeking refuge from the cholera epidemic, Darcie and Walter find themselves in a Shaker village.  This is an interesting group which feels marriage and marital relations is a sin.  Walter dies and leaves Darcie only as she finds herself expecting her late husband's child.  Something frowned upon by this culture.

A very well studied and researched book, Ann Gabhart is a very enthralling author.  It is so interesting to read about groups that you otherwise would never know about.  I really enjoyed this book and hope to read many more from this author.  Excellent read!

I received an ebook copy from NetGalley.  All thoughts are my own.

Southern Smoke by Matthew Register

I was thrilled to find this wonderful recipe book!  I can't wait to try them.  They looked so delicious and full of that smokey taste.  We bought a pellet smoker not too long ago and haven't used it that much because of not being sure of how to prepare the food.

Now we have a collection of wonderful recipes, including sides.  I recommend this for a great bbq ahead!

Bitter Pill by Richard L. Mabry, M.D.

Book Blurb:

THINGS WERE GOING ALONG JUST FINE UNTIL THE MIRACLE FOULED THEM UP

“Brother” Bob Bannister is content with his life and his itinerant healing ministry, until one night he finds that the woman who walks off the stage under her own power isn’t one of his shills. At that point, doubts begin to intrude on his previously untroubled existence.

Dr. Abby Davis is tired of her family practice and at odds with God. Dealing with critically ill and dying patients has crushed her spirit to the point she’s ready to quit. But she soon realizes that there’s more to healing than ministering to the physical body.

Scott Anderson was the oldest graduate of his seminary class. Then again, most of them hadn’t turned away from a medical practice, hoping to atone for past mistakes (including his wife’s death) by ministering to men’s souls. Now he hopes he hasn’t made a colossal mistake in switching careers.

Each of these individuals becomes linked to the other, and each finds that God has a purpose for them—but, as it often does, the lesson comes with discomfort.

My Review:

Dr. Richard Mabry is a Doctor turned author.  His books are so good.  This is a novella style, somewhat shorter length book, but like the others I have read, it is captivating.  You will enjoy the mystery, the cooperation between the characters and the reliance on God.  It's a great read and I highly recommend it.

I received an ebook copy from the author.  All thoughts are my own.
