The Flower Quilter by Mindy Steele (The Heart of the Amish)

This book shares the feeling that we are not all cut out of the same cloth and that is the case with Barbara whose family members are all natural quilters.  But it is not "her thing".  She loves to find her own way and she finds herself in the town of her grandmother, (another family quilter) and meets Melvin and together they quilt beautiful landscaping of flowers in wonderful patterns.

It's a very sweet story and the first book I have read by this author.  I enjoyed it very much and hope to read more from this author.  Very nicely done! I received a complimentary copy and was not required to give a positive review.  All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Against All Enemies

The Christmas Quilt by Vannetta Chapman

I just finished reading The Christmas Quilt and really enjoyed this.  I would gladly say that the author wove together a beautiful story of peace, forgiveness and family ties. This is a reprint from 10 years ago, so if you missed it, here's your chance to read a wonderful Amish story just in time for the holidays.

The story begins as two young Amish women are preparing for their marriages on the same day.  Annie and Leah share their feelings of joy and happiness at the coming of this happy event.  The story progresses as both women, now married, are both expecting a child, or in the case of Leah, twins.  Leah is married to Annie's brother and as her pregnancy advances she is no longer feeling the closeness to her husband and their marriage does not appear to be as happy as she had hoped or expected it to be at the time of their wedding.

Leah's pregnancy starts to have complications and some serious problems associated with it.  As time progresses, her husband, Adam, finds her curled up on the floor in the middle of the night.  Realizing that she needs more help than he himself can provide for her, he contacts Annie and her husband, Samuel, for help.  Samuel having some medical knowledge, himself, realizes that he too must call for help and an ambulance is summoned.  Leah is brought to the hospital and after a time, it is realized she must go to yet another hospital for the care her two unborn children are so in need of.  This will take her farther from her family but it seems there is no option.

Annie realizing that Adam needs to care for their home and continue to work to help pay for the hospital expenses, finds a place near the hospital where she can stay and take care of Leah's needs.
Each day she works on a quilt for Leah.  The quilt takes on significant meaning as the two share scripture time together and special stories together.  The two become close as the time progresses and Leah realizes how much Adam still means to her and Adam finds he too, greatly misses his wife.  As the two await their child, their Amish community comes together to find ways to help them with their expenses due to the extended hospital stay.

The stories and scriptural references begin to bind the two women together and help to calm Leah's fears and apprehension of the expected earlier birth of their children.  With each day the tender feelings between Adam and Leah seem to be returning.  This story gives wonderful hope that we can all  find ways to heal wounds that have torn us apart from those that are the most important to us in our lives.  It is a sweet book that helps us mend our souls.

Against All Enemies by Vannetta Chapman (An Allison Quinn Thriller)

Wow!  So real you could definitely see things in this book really happening.  A thrilling story of a Homeland Security agent, Allison Quinn and Donovan Steele, who forge ahead to find the people who are planning a cyber attack on a cruise ship.  This is definitely a page turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout.  I love a good thriller and this certainly fit the bill!  The author is truly a talented writer. You won't want to miss this book!

Shadows at Dusk By Elizabeth Goddard

From Elizabeth Goddard

I loved writing SHADOWS AT DUSK because it's my "Romancing the Stone" story, but with a TWIST! That has long been one of my all-time favorite movies. I love the action and the adventure and the traveling around exotic places. Let me be clear, SHADOWS AT DUSK is not a romantic comedy, but it's a wild, adventurous ride.

Caught by the Cowgirl By Tanya Agler (A Clean and Uplifting Romance Rodeo Stars of Violet Ridge Book 1)

This is a sweet contemporary romance.  Kelsea wants to lease Sullivan's land for the purpose of a wind farm.  This was not Will's plan.  The story  has likeable characters and a small town feel with Will is trying to do what he feels is best to serve his late father's ranch to the best of his ability. You will read about the day to day work on the ranch, including mucking out stalls, feeding and caring for the animals.  The romance is sweet.  The book is easy to read.

A Simple Amish Christmas by Vannetta Chapman

I would hate to miss out on any one of Vannetta's books.  She is such a good author I can't wait till the next book comes out.  A Simple Amish Christmas is a re-releasing.

I really enjoyed this story of Annie who ventures out and becomes a nurse.  Not exactly what the Amish are to do because they only go to school till the 8th grade.

Although she returns to her people, she is worried how to share her events of her last years with her family and friends.

This book was very sweet and shared good and sad events in the lives of the various characters.  You can't help but like Annie and she is a very endearing person.  It shared Amish ideals without portraying them as perfect, but rather regular people who share the same feelings we all do.  Loved this book!

I received a complimentary copy of this book.  All opinions are my own.

Christmas Bells and Wedding Vows (A Marriage of Convenience Anthology) Jody Hedlund, Lacy Williams, Misty M. Beller

What a fun collection!  Each of the three novellas were interesting and page turners.  I absolutely loved them and read them with very few breaks because I couldn't stop till I found out how things turned out.  They were each historical romance fiction and there was always a little adventure along with the romance.  The characters were all engaging and interesting throughout.  The storylines were captivating and the backdrop western states were so beautiful to read about.  They were Christian and I loved that as well. The Christmas based stories left you with a Christmas Spirit of family tradition and love.

I received a complimentary copy of this book without a requirement of a positive review.  All opinions are my own.

Lost and Found by Suzanne Woods Fisher (A Clean Amish Christian Romance Novel)

This was a totally sweet book, about people who cared for one another, people who needed to work through various issues and problems and those that needed to be understood because of their health or personal problems.  I felt as though many lessons were taught in this book and I loved that.  The depth of human understanding stood forth and made it all the better.  I loved when it was brought up that we sometimes have to be still to listen and know what is God's Will for our lives.

This was another book by the author regarding birding.  It seemed to weave into the storyline so well to bring out meaning and clarity to the situations brought up in the book.  I enjoyed the differences in the various Amish groups and how they worked out those differences in a manner that was a blessing for them. This is a deep look into the Amish life.  I recommend this book.  Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.  I would never want to miss any of this authors books!

A Royal Christmas (A Real-Life Fairy Tale Christmas Contemporary Romance) by Melody Carlson

What a sweet story.  Puts you in the Christmas Spirit for sure!  Who wouldn't love to be a princess?  I have enjoyed several of her Christmas stories before.  This was a clean and sweet book with a little romance, some suspense and a cute story line.  It was a very enjoyable novella that is a very nice Christmas read.  I love the "Germanic" feel to the story being a German and knowing the language and customs.  This was a fun and easy read and I think you will enjoy it!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was not required to give a positive review.  All opinions are my own.

Freedom's Price by Pegg Thomas (Path to Freedom Book 1)

This author has definitely become one of my favorite writers of historical fiction.  The story was very gripping and kept me reading and definitely not skimming pages.  I wanted to read about everything that was going on in the story.  And there was a lot.  The turmoil that Gwen had to hold in her heart as a secret that could ruin her life with the Quaker family that she loved made for a very good read. Thomas, a Quaker man was believable and his feelings were easy to understand to me as the reader.  It was a very good story and a fresh read for me with a great storyline.  I highly recommend this book.  It is a wonderful story!
