The Bookseller's Promise (An Amish Bookstore Novel Book 1) by Beth Wiseman

I loved this book.  I loved the connections between the various  characters in the book and some unexpected scenes that happened.  Yes, this was a very engaging book and it is hard to put this one down.  Have to keep reading to see what's next, because you can't be too certain!

I enjoyed the Christian themes throughout and the character growth.  The characters were well-developed and the non-Amish character, Yvonne was an important part of the story.  Their exchanges were very believable and the storyline was new and fresh.  I would have to say, this book is a winner.  Can't wait for the next in the series!

An Unlikely Match by Beth Wiseman (The Amish Inn Novels book 2)

When I started reading this, I immediately knew that I had read book 1 of this series.  I remembered the very memorable characters from book 1, such as grumpy Gus, Lizzie, Esther.   I was so happy to continue this fun and enjoyable series.  I enjoyed the book because it was a really light-hearted read for me.  There was drama, laughs and so enjoyable.  

I found this heartwarming romance very nice as Amish girl gets to know Enlish boy or "man" as Evelyn never fails to point out.  A page-turning book that will keep you reading till the very end!

A Picture of Love by Beth Wiseman The Amish Inn Novels Series

 This was a lovely sweet Amish book.  It is the first in a new series called The Amish Inn Novels.  I, for sure, will be continuing with this series.  It is really good. The storyline ran smoothly and simply and kind of made me feel as though this was "real life" Amish.  It felt comfortable and real.  Sometimes I found myself wanting to laugh a bit at the characters and yet there are serious moments.  I love Lizzie and her "teeth".  I love how the ladies tried to match make and meddle into the lives of Naomi and Amos. There are a few twists as things are in real life as well.

I love the Bed and Breakfast theme and the humor and love that are shown throughout.  A good book!  Definitely will be watching for the next book of this series!

Listening To Love by Beth Wiseman

This was a sweet and endearing book to me.  I loved how the characters of different religious stages in their lives and different understandings come together as friends and how relationships form and become damaged and see whether they have the needed faith to repair the imperfections that exist.

Lucas is a young Amish man who has a special and close friendship with Natalie.  As this friendship grows family members become very concerned about this and worry that their friendship will become more.  And they have too many differences to make this possible. 

I couldn't put this book down.  It was so good.  The author really draws you in.  It's good.  Really good.

An Amish Spring by Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, and Vannetta Chapman

If you love Amish fiction, and how could you not, you will love these 3 stories in a wonderful compilation by the above authors.  They are definitely wonderful authors with a super talent.  To share the talent in one book, is fabulous!

A Son For Always Amy Clipston shares the story of Carolyn and Joshua as they prepare for their first child together, and how Carolyn's son Benjamin will fit into their family.  Although Joshua has adopted Ben as his own son, Carolyn feels the responsibility for his financial welfare.  Will she be able to trust and have faith that they are all now one family, rather than a family separated from past mistakes in life. Author: Amy Clipston.









A Love for Irma Rose Beth Wiseman. I loved this story of Josh and Irma Rose, their experiences as Josh ends up in jail, because he likes a little more excitement than the "usual" Amish person.  But was their a deeper meaning to why he was in jail?  Hmm. food for thought and a wonderful chance to find this book and read this story!  It was that good.










My husband and I have had a garden for all the years of our married life.  In our beginning efforts, it was quite a struggle for us to have it watered adequately, yet not too much, to keep the weeds down and to know how to properly deal with the little garden pests, both insect variety and larger animal variety. 
We often had problems that we had to “weather” out, such as late frosts after the garden was beginning to come up or early frosts when we not prepared and hadn’t brought in the harvest.  Hail and wind storms also wreaked their havoc upon our little garden plot.  It was and sometimes still is frustrating when things didn’t go as we had hoped and planned.  But so is our life, also not the smooth road we always hope and pray for.  We have to learn to “go with the flow” and accept what happens and move forward.  Yet we can find peace in our lives and grow and learn.  The garden holds many happy memories and fun as the kids and now grandkids help us harvest, weed and enjoy the fruits of our labors.

This wonderful story by Vannetta Chapman shows how the gardens in our lives help us to move ahead and as stated by the very talented author, Vannetta Chapman, Gardens will bless your soul. 

“They are a place to rest, to draw near, and to heal.”  I especially loved that line and marked it as I was reading the book, because that is how I truly feel about gardens, as well.

Emma is a widow who lives with Mary Ann, her mother-in-law.  Mary Ann has a beautiful garden that she lovingly tends. Emma tries to find a purpose in life now that her children are grown.  She learns that a runaway Amish boy has been hiding in her barn.  She tries to know how she can help him at this troubled time of his life.  She leaves food and hopes that he will feel that he can trust her to help him.  She also is asked by the bishop to house an abused Amish woman and her two children.  They find a safe refuge at Emma’s and begin to work together. 

Emma begins to find some meaning to her life and purpose

Her old friend, Danny, has returned home after many years absence.  She had once hoped that they would marry, but Danny had disappointed her by moving away to pursue his life’s plans leaving Emma alone and to marry another.  Emma feels she is too old now to find love again in her life.

Mary Ann’s garden holds a secret which she reveals to Emma and Danny that may just change both of their lives.  

These stories will touch your heart.  These  authors share how faith can help you find peace, faith, endurance, hope and healing.  I loved them all!

An Amish Spring by Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, Vannetta Chapman

I really enjoyed these 3 stories and loved that they were all faith-promoting and inspiring in their content.  These are three of my fave authors.  And this book left me feeling happy.  Love happy endings, love stories of faith and love of family.

These stories were previously published in three other books, An Amish Cradle, An Amish Year and An Amish Garden and are now in a different compilation.

Enjoyed the stories and the authors' work.

An Amish Reunion by Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Irvin

An Amish Reunion by Amy Clipson, Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Irvin is a wonderful compilation of 4 sweet stories of different Amish reunions.  The stories were heartwarming, fun to read and very enjoyable.  I loved Kelly Irvin's book which centered around the location of Jamesport, the first Amish town that I personally visited and so it made it a great read for me as I could picture the town and the people as I saw them there.

Each story was individual and unique and different to read.  Some of the topics were very serious and thought provoking.  I think it was a realistic way to present some difficult and hard issues of the Amish.  Sometimes we don't read about the difficulties that also come to them as well.

A very good book. I am very glad that I was able to read it!

Amish Celebrations by Beth Wiseman

Beautiful cover for a beautiful book.  There are four novellas included in this book and they are all written by Beth Wiseman.  I have enjoyed many of her Amish books in the past and this was another to add to the list of why I enjoy reading books by this author.

All clean and interesting stories that hold your attention and show interesting situations, which were believable and interesting.  I could envision the twin sisters as they found themselves interested in the same guy and how things got a bit rivalous between the two.

I think anyone interested in Amish fiction will enjoy these stories of love of family and friends.

An Amish Heirloom by Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Irvin

I really enjoyed this set of four novellas by these well known Amish authors.  This combination was a hit for me and I especially enjoyed the one written by Beth Wiseman, which covered two periods of time, then and now and the cedar chest that held some secrets of the past.  Loved it!

I enjoyed the other stories as well and highly recommend this if you enjoy Amish fiction.

An Amish Christmas Love by Beth Wiseman, Amy Clipston, Ruth Reid, Kelly Irvin

This was a wonderful set of four Amish Christmas novellas by four of my fave authors.

They were not connected to one another, but each independent stories of love, trust and an abiding trust in God.  I loved reading each and every one of them.  I did have a fave, however, and that was the final story in the book by author Ruth Reid.It was entitled "Home for Christmas".  I loved the warm, wonderful feelings that it left me with.

If you want a truly inspirational set of stories to read this holiday season, this is the set!

The Shell Collector's Daughter

This was a novella by Beth Wiseman, and a part of the Surf's Up Series.  This was a really different story.  Very Christian, showing that God has a hand in our live's and we should "talk" to him more, listen more and and trust more.  I enjoyed it and thought it was really a nice read.

This was a really nice set of four novellas by Beth Wiseman, Amy Clipston, Ruth Reid and Kathleen Fuller.  I will do a separate post for each.

A Cup Half Full by Beth Wiseman

Sarah has just gotten married only to have an accident which puts her in a wheelchair dashing all her young girl hopes and dreams for happiness with her new husband, Abram. As her self confidence ebbs away, she finds herself worried about any future she and Abram might have had.  A beautiful story of learning to accept our lives and making the most of them and remembering that God is not far away. 

This was a heartwarming story.  I really enjoyed Beth's novella.  It was a good reminder for all that we can have a happy life no matter what comes our way and that we should remember to put our trust and faith in God to make us spiritually whole.

Home Sweet Home by Amy Clipston

This sweet story reminds me of many newlywed starts, where life did not always go as planned and expenses and debt from unexpected life events replaced the newly wedded bliss and reality set in.  Although Chace and Mia are very much in love, that love is tested by unexpected bills causing money for necessities including shelter.

With the help of a kind Amish family and God, they find what is really important in life and find their way.  

It is a really enjoyable story, one that happens more than we realize.  Many people are in need and the story helps you to be aware of those needs.

Building Faith by Kathleen Fuller

I really enjoyed this story about a young Amish woman, Faith Miller, who was a hobby carpenter, not your Amish woman type of occupation.  She is asked by her cousin to build the cabinets in her new home that she and her fiancee are trying to complete.  Unknown to Faith, her cousin's fiancee also had asked someone to make her cabinets, Silas, the ex-fiancee of Faith. Both Faith and Silas are totally taken back by the unexpected news.  So how is this situation going to turn out?  

A Flicker of Hope by Ruth Reid

When a fire destroys the home of Norren and Thomas King, sad memories of the events that took place there come to the forefront.  As they do, they find some of the feelings they had lost in their marriage were returning to the surface by working together to rebuild what was once there.  The story goes from the current time period and back and forth to days past.  I really liked the story.

I enjoyed all four of the novellas.  These are among my favorite Amish authors and are always clean and uplifting story lines.  I will continue to read the books of all four of these wonderful authors.

An Amish Harvest Four Novellas

I received this book a week or two ago and have not been able to put it down.  I don't always care for novellas as much as full length books because occasionally the characters are not as well developed.  But in these stories, each one was unique and special in its own way.  I loved the detail of each story and the way it left me feeling that I was so happy that I was able to read this wonderful book.

I highly recommend it to all of you who enjoy Amish fiction.  I will continue to read books written by all of these authors!

I have read many of Beth Wiseman's books and so far have liked them all.  This novella was no exception.  She is just an excellent author.

Ruth Anne and her best friend Bethany are both young wive's who have found they were expecting their first babies at just about the same time.  Exciting news for both of them and as Bethany's little perfect girl is born, Ruth Anne looks forward to her blessed event.
Her husband Levi holds an apprehension about the birth in his heart and the apprehension holds true.  As this young teenage couple trys to cope with the fact that their child is born with Down syndrome, Levi seems to drift farther and farther away.  The difficult time of this causes Ruth Anne to seek help away from the Amish community amongst Englischers who welcome her with open arms.

The story is sad as it starts.  Prayer, faith and love come together to form a beautiful story which follows the plan that God had prepared for them.

I purchased this as part of a 4 part book by four wonderful authors, Beth Wiseman, Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller and Vannetta Chapman.  It is a blessed read.  I really recommend this read.

Plain Proposal by Beth Wiseman

I finished the whole book pretty fast because it was hard to tear myself away from the 3 books in the 1 Volume version.

Just as the others, I was very taken in by this book as well.  Beth Wiseman is a really enthralling author.  I will be reading lots of her books, no doubt about this.

In this story Englischer Shelby, whose parents have divorced, is required to live with her Amish relatives.  She is surprised at their living circumstances but finds herself growing fond of the warm family.  Although mother Rebecca seems to be a bit hesitant to have a trusting relationship with Shelby.  She is sure that Shelby will be a bad influence on her daughter, Miriam.

Both girls find themselves getting close and finding someone whom they both care about.  Miriam's Amish beau is keeping a secret from her and this secret could cause the end of their relationship.  As the stories continue, you witness the warmth of family, the forgiveness and the strength of the individuals and how they deal with problems they never foresaw.

This is a very interesting read.  I see the trust in God, family and friends and how they all work together for the good.

Loved this book!

Plain Paradise by Beth Wiseman

In a word, I loved this.  It was a hopeful and uplifting inspirational book.  I thought I enjoyed the first book, but this one went above and beyond.

Linda has lived a happy Amish life, only to have her world turned upside down by Josie Dronberger, a woman who at age 17 gave Linda to an Amish couple for adoption.  Now Josie is facing her own health problems and wants to find her daughter.  She does, but Linda was never informed that she was not the natural child of Mary Ellen and Abe.  The shock takes the household in its grasp as Josie and Linda begin to try to know and understand one another's worlds.  

True feelings are shown by Mary Ellen who does not want to lose her faithful daughter to Englisch ways and worldliness.  

This is a heartfelt story of love, faith, prayer and trust in God at all times.  I am so glad I pulled this book from the bottom of my "to be read" pile!  It is so good.  A 5 star book!

Plain Promise by Beth Wiseman

As I had indicated in my last post, I am reading Beth Wiseman's 3 part Volume of the Daughters of the Promise Collection.  They are really great reads.  I will review them individually as I complete them.

The first book in the series was Plain Promise.  This story is about Sadie Fisher who rents out a cottage to a single Englischer named Kade Saunders.  Kade is a big-wig businessman whose fast-paced life has brought him to the peaceful Amish community for a much needed break from his daily work.  As he and Sadie come to know each other their lives become somewhat complicated as a relationship begins to bloom.

Kade is surprised as he finds that his ex-wife has decided to drop off their 5 year-old autistic son while she has some surprising plans of her own.  Kade is unsure how to deal with his new responsibilities and Sadie forms a bond with his son, Tyler.

After a time, the man that Sadie has been writing to, having thought that they would marry someday, arrives from Texas to take Sadie to meet his family.

The story is amazing and I highly recommend this book to all fans of the Amish genre.  A definite 5 star read!  I will be reading all three of these delightful and page turning books!  Never a dull moment here!

A Funny Book Reader's Experience!

So last week, my co-worker and I were talking about Amish books.  I lent her a copy of Huckleberry Spring by Jennifer Beckstrand.  And she asked if I had read Plain Promise by Beth Wiseman.  I said "No".  Which was the truth.  She brought it to work for me to read.

I was very happy to be able to borrow this book.  At the price of books, it was a nice trade.  So I took the book home and started reading it.  I got to about page 210 as I was doing some late night reading in this book.  I leaned to the side where my TBR book pile was and saw this:

Look down towards the bottom.  There you can see something that says "Beth Wiseman" on the side.

So I pull out this book from the pile, which looks like what is below:

Hmmmm...does the girl on the left side look familiar to you????  Yes, this is the Three Novels in one Volume set.  It includes the book Plain Promise which I had borrowed from my co-worker.  Ha ha!  Needless to say, I returned her book the next day, with the "Promise" to let her borrow my big book after I had finished reading it.    Must say, I am loving this!  Also that the borrowed book cover looks like this:

Any differences?  Yes, the single book had recipes.  Mmmm.  Always love to try a new Amish dish!

You have to read these books, all 3!  They are amazing!
