Henri's Regret: Forts of Refuge Prequel by Pegg Thomas

This book was the Prequel to the Forts of Refuge series. This book is filled with drama and action.  It's also poignant and heartwarming. I really enjoyed this book.

The frontier life was so difficult and this book tells it like it was.  The research involved in this book must have been very intense and all-consuming.  It's a wonderful book and I am so glad to have had the opportunity to read it.  It must have been so hard to leave a civilization so different to forge new frontiers and deal with it's challenges and adventure.  And there is romance, as well.  A well written prequel that is well worth the time to read!  And then you will definitely want to read everything in the series! You will read about Henri in Maggie's Strength. You will be well rewarded by reading this prequel and the series!  So happy I did.

I received an ebook copy from the author.  All thoughts are my own.

Abigail's Peace by Pegg Thomas (Forts of Refuge #3)

I have enjoyed the historical fiction books that I have read from this author, which is what keeps me reading them!  Once you find something you enjoy, you continue to read these wonderful books.

The writing style and character development are excellent in this book.  The research must have been very in-depth to recreate such an incredible read.   This is a book in the 1700's time frame, which would require many hours of research to develop a precise and wonderful book of this period.

As Abigail arrives into the fort, she finds life is very different than what she was used to or was expecting and it was interesting to read about the Seneca and their side of things.  The book was a real page turner and I loved that!  Had to keep reading and not put it down!

I received a complimentary copy from the author.  All thoughts are my own.

Maggie's Strength: Forts of Refuge Book 2 by Pegg Thomas

This was a true page-turner!  It was full of action.  I stayed up late reading.  Just couldn't stop.  This is a book that took place in the days of Indian Wars, hostile times full of fear and working hard for survival.

The story was amazing and I can't say enough good things about it.  There were no slow parts, so no skimming pages. It was so well written I didn't want to miss anything that happened.

Maggie and Baptiste come from different backgrounds and different life experiences.  Together they find ways to help each other and to form a bond.

I loved this book.  It was so good!

I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to write a positive review.  All thoughts are my own.
