The 12 Brides of Summer by various authors

This was such a fun book.  I love historical fiction and this had many of my favorite authors.  These historical novellas do stand alone and they are so fun to read.  It was a nice read to relax with for summer reading.    Of course some stories were more interesting than others but as a whole I would recommend this book.  I have read 12 Brides of Christmas and saw connections to the stories which to me makes it fun to re-connect with the previous set of novellas.  I am delighted to have read these.

Small-Town Summer Brides by Diana Lesire Brandmeyer, Pam Hillman, Maureen Lang, Amy Lillard

This book by four great authors tells four stories, each of a historical nature and of Romance which starts in small towns.  This was actually book 2 in the series, and I have not read book 1.  But I don't think that it would be necessary to do that as each story is unique and not part of a series to the best of my knowledge.

I enjoyed each novella and liked the stories very much.  Having grown up in a very small midwestern town, it was easy to relate to.  These are sweet stories and can be recommended for any age group.

I enjoyed them.  Hope to read more from these writers in the future.

The Gift-Wrapped Bride by Maureen Lang

This historical romance was a nice quick enjoyable read.  Sophie and her parents leave Ohio in November 1848 to bustling Chicago in their wagon.  They were settling where others of their friends and family had led the way, including Noah and her brother.

Noah was not one of Sophie's favorite boys in her memory of their past encounters.  But now he has grown up although in Sophie's opinion to still be of the same nature.

Despite others who have told her that Noah has changed and is no longer that same boy she once knew, Sophie doesn't want to be bothered.  Yet Noah sees something in Sophie that he hopes will become a part of his future.

With Christmas fast approaching, Noah's plans a Christmas pageant.  As she sees Noah working with the children, will Sophie's feelings change about Noah?  Or will she remain unforgiving?

I enjoyed it but perhaps the ending came a bit quickly in this story.
