Into The Starlight by Amanda Cabot (Secrets of Sweetwater Crossing Book 3)

Upon returning home to Sweetwater Crossing, many changes had happened to Joanna, including becoming a widow. The last book of the series does not disappoint and the changes there makes her feel  that it is no longer home.  Della and Burke Finley arrive in hopes of finding what really happened to Della's almost husband.  This book is the conclusion of this interesting series.  It has just the right amount of mystery to make the book very interesting to the reader.  It's a good book and a good fit for the previous two books. A very worthwhile read!

Against the Wind by Amanda Cabot (Secrets of Sweetwater Crossing Book 2)

This is the second book of this series.  In a word:  I loved it!  It was sweet, had action and mystery and was just plain good reading! Louisa is a brave woman learning to be able to help the sick and injured as a doctor.  Not an easy occupation for a woman in this historic time period.  She is a great example of fortitude and bravery against all odds!

The romance that develops was well paced and their relationship came organically and believable.  It was a very enjoyable book for me and I really want to read more from this talented author.

After The Shadows by Amanda Cabot (Secrets of Sweetwater Crossing Book 1)

This was a most interesting book to me.  It was a historical fiction book as you can tell from the cover.  Emily, a widow of a very abusive man, returns home to Sweetwater Crossing.  There she finds herself trying to resolve the mysterious and unexpected death of her pastor father.  Craig Ferguson and his young son, Noah come to Sweetwater Crossing as the new schoolmaster.  Both of them are kindly people who look out for others.  The challenges and events that occur to both them and others causes them to work together to resolve the issues that surround them.

I loved the Texas Hill Country setting as I have a special love for this state and read everything I can that includes this state.  It was a good book and a very talented author.

The Spark of Love by Amanda Cabot (Mesquite Springs Book #3)

This is the first book from this author that I have had the privilege to read.  It's book 3 and now I definitely will have to find books 1 & 2!  But that being said, book 3 is fine on it's own and I just loved it! I love Texas historical fiction because I have so many ancestors that settled here in those rough times.  So that in itself is a huge draw for me.

I loved this book.  It was Texas, it was romance, and definitely mystery!  What a great combination.The characters are great.  I can certainly see trying to get away from gold digger suitors, who only are in a relationship just to see what's in it for them! This book was a page turner, without a doubt. After various strangers arrive in Mesquite Springs, it is interesting to see how the story will develop.

The Oregon Trail Romance Collection by various Authors

This book is a very sweet and entertaining set of nine stories of hardships and happiness.  I have read books from several of the authors and a few were new to me and I enjoyed them all.  Very nice and enjoyable book!

I would love to see more of these types of collections!

A Tender Hope by Amanda Cabot

I just finished reading this and I loved this.  The title was perfect for the book.  My only regret is that I didn't read the first two books.  I really loved it.  I loved the characters, the plot and all the action.

This was a book well worth reading.  Sweet, clean and and had some tragic moments, happy and sad moments.  Just a book that I couldn't put down.  Now to go back and find the first two in the series!

A Stolen Heart by Amanda Cabot Book 1 of the Cimarron Creek Trilogy

I really enjoyed this book by Amanda Cabot.  I was surprised at how it kept my attention to the very end.  It was a sweet story with many twists and turns, romance, mystery and everything that makes a book interesting to read.

I enjoyed the book from start to finish.  I will be reading more from this author whose writing talents clearly came through in this fun-to-read novel.

The 12 Brides of Summer by various authors

This was such a fun book.  I love historical fiction and this had many of my favorite authors.  These historical novellas do stand alone and they are so fun to read.  It was a nice read to relax with for summer reading.    Of course some stories were more interesting than others but as a whole I would recommend this book.  I have read 12 Brides of Christmas and saw connections to the stories which to me makes it fun to re-connect with the previous set of novellas.  I am delighted to have read these.

The Christmas Star Bride by Amanda Cabot

I have just finished reading The Christmas Star Bride, which I believe is book 9 in the 12 part series.  The story takes place in Cheyenne, Wyoming Territory in November of 1885.

Esther Hathaway owns and runs a bakery.  She is a single middle-aged woman who has never married, although she has had someone in her past who she lost in wartimes.  She lives together with her niece, Susan, who will be getting married.  Susan's parents died as Susan was still young and was raised by Esther.

Their family tradition for the family brides was to give a gift of a Christmas Star, painted with the bride and groom.  Now that Esther was in Cheyenne, it was hard to find someone with the artistic talents she needed to complete this family tradition for Susan.  She had been searching for someone to complete this task and nearly given up all hope of finding someone when she came across an ad placed by Jeremy Snyder, an artist.

As he meets Esther, she is certain that he is capable of the request that she has made and he begins sketching Susan and her fiance in a part of the bakery.  This brings in customers who are interested onlookers and possible new clientele for Jeremy.

As the days pass Esther begins having feelings for Jeremy as does he for her.  But neither is quite confident of the feelings of the other.  This is a sweet story and a story that will bring a smile to the reader.  I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it!
