Jessie and James by Jennifer Beckstrand

I purchased this book at a reader's luncheon and finally had some time to read it!

Although not an Amish book, as I often read from this author, a fun and quirky  book.  The author has a definite sense of humor as also seen in her Amish fiction.  I love a nice, enjoyable light read which causes no stress!

Jesse was a true individual as she protected herself with a rifle close by.  James, a great character and a true gentleman, comes for mining, not Jesse's thing by any means.  The characters are fun, kind, and interesting.  There is some excitement and action to see and lots of fun reading.

You will enjoy this fun book.

Abraham by Jennifer Beckstrand

This is book two of The Petersheim Brothers series.  It is a wonderful example of this author's humorous and witty Amish romance books.  I love the humor as it makes me laugh out loud.  And I love that.  We all need to laugh!.

The younger brothers of the family are stuck sleeping in the cellar and will go to great lengths to get the older bros to marry and move out in hopes they will inherit those rooms.  The first attempt in book 1 failed and so they are at it again.  This time they hope to get quiet Abraham hitched.  They have the perfect match, Emma, in mind and are determined that this is going to be the key to moving "up" in the house.  But Emma has a lot of suitors.  Whatever are they going to do?

I really enjoyed book two and can't wait to see what happens next!

Funeral Potatoes by Joni Hilton

This book about someone in the Relief Society presidency, is a tongue in cheek, and definitely humorous view of the life of many an LDS woman, balancing family, church, and activities to make it all work.  Imperfectionists, as she says, trying to be perfectionists while working hard to achieve their goals.  It was a fun book to read and a light, enjoyable read. Included a recipe of the infamous "funeral potato" dish which so often appears at church functions, not just the funeral.

Mormonville by Jeff Call

This was a fun book about a New York reported assigned to find out all the low-down on those Mormons.  This was a book that was very humorous and entertaining.  I enjoyed it a lot!  I let me mother read it and she said it made her laugh and she was glad to have read it. 

A Bee in Her Bonnet by Jennifer Beckstrand (The Honeybee Sisters Series)

I have to say that there has not been a single book of Jennifer's that I haven't absolutely loved.  The characters are engaging, the plots are good and they are funny!  I love that and this book, the 2nd in the Honeybee Sisters series, had some oh-so funny lines.  Sometimes they were so unexpected that I almost didn't catch the sneaky humor.  Clearly one of the great Amish authors, Jennifer Beckstrand has a fan for life.

I am not going to tell you about the book.  Only that you will enjoy the antics of Honeybee sister, Poppy.  She is an accident waiting to happen.  I highly recommend this book.  I can't wait for the next one!

Writer off the Leash by Michelle Griep

This was my second "How-to" book that I have read.  Because this was about "Growing in the Writing Craft", I am definitely a bit worried about how I write this review!  Ha ha!  Well, I will be honest and "myself".

I myself, only write blogs, journals, how-to do genealogy materials and other "stuff", not fiction book, but I must say this book definitely gave me some new ideas for writing, regardless of "what" I am writing.

Needless to say this was a very amusing book, while going through the various teaching steps, procedures, etc.  The author does certainly have a way with words.  I found it hard to put down, which was unexpected for this type of reading material.

I may not become an expert blogger, but at least I have a book to refer to as to how to do so!
So that said, I do recommend this interesting, as well as entertaining book to all aspiring writer wannabes.  I think you will learn a lot and realize patience is definitely a key word in the writing process.  Thanks, Michelle for a most interesting read.
