The Case of the Stolen Fireworks by Tracy Fredrychowski (The Mystery Hunters Club)

I was so happy to read this young reader's book!  It took me back "many" years from when my friends and I walked all the way to the library every Saturday to get our Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys mystery books!  I loved mysteries as a young elementary age girl. And even though this was a younger reader book, I really enjoyed the mystery and the steps they took to try to resolve the "who dun it and why?"  I look forward to the second book in the series.  It was a cute story of friends and young detective work.  I think this would make a great gift for any young reader. Deadly Bloom (An Amish Book Club Mystery) by Tracy Fredrychowski

I love a good mystery and any Amish books I can get my hands on!  This was filled the bill.  I enjoyed the cozy mystery and the story line was very engaging.  So I had to read till the end.  Its fun to read about the Amish ladies who are determined to resolve the "cause of death".  This is a short story but with no dull moments.  Well worth reading for Amish mystery lovers like me!

A Thorn in Winter's Grasp: Christmas Historical Western Romance

 

This was a really enjoyable book in a time that life was much harder.  It was such a sweet story that I read it in one sitting.  I really enjoyed the story line and how Hope had to play the role of a teacher as well as  her Aunt Millie who has passed.  When Millie passes Hope takes her place as her aunt had requested and travels to be the teacher of Jed's children. She hasn't told him the truth as to who she is but the kids love her.  After some time the truth comes out.  And things don't go as planned.  This is a story about an older couple, which I found very refreshing!  Good story!

Christmas Promises by Shelley Shepard Gray (A Matchmaker Knows Best Romance Book 2)

This was book 2 of this cute series of the Loaves of Love Food Bank and all that it has in store, besides just bread. I had read the first book and really enjoyed it and was so happy to have the chance to read this one as well!  It was a sweet romance and brings about characters that are familiar from the earlier book, Their Surprise Reunion. Chloe is dating Adam, but are there "other" sparks that might be brewing?  I loved this!  It was so sweet to see the relationships develop and where things are headed.  I think you will really enjoy this book as I did.  I received an ARC of this book.  And I loved it!

The Amish Ballerina by Richelle Brunstetter with Wanda E. Brunstetter

This was a sweet story of an Amish young woman, Arie, whose parents were quite strict as to following Amish rules.  Arie's friend has helped her to learn ballet and Arie absolutely loves it.  She wants to continue but is forced to do so while hiding in the barn to express her love of the dance.  I was attracted to the title being the mom of a daughter who danced since she could walk. There were some exciting parts to the book and it was an easy read.  Arie was worried to share the news of her dancing with her boyfriend.  I enjoyed the book.

Mail-Order Duchess by Misty M. Beller (Lord's of the Rockies Book 1)

Enoch's brother had sent away for a mail-order bride and she came.  Although she sent a message that she would be coming, it didn't arrive.  So she was surprised to find that the brother of Enoch had passed.  Enoch feels that he should be responsible for this unfortunate situation.  Mandie arrives and has had an experience which changed many things in her life.  Enoch also has some unhappy past times that keep him from opening up completely.  

This was a wonderful read, as are all of this author's books.  I love the history and the location of Montana with its rugged beauty and western flavor.  You won't want to miss this excellent book.  I can't wait for the next book in the series.

The Carpenter by Pegg Thomas Salem Village Book 1

This book is a real attention grabbing story.  It takes place in Salem, Massachucetts in the 1600's where we have history of the Salem Witch Trials, a very tragic historical time and place.  At this time the Quakers and the Puritans were having serious strife and as Caleb and his wife, who are Quakers, adopt a Puritan child, the stress becomes extremely worrisome for them and their safety.

I love history and this book really held my attention.  The story line is well developed and the characters were also believable and the historical aspect was very fascinating and the story was exciting and tragic to read about.  Although fiction, it was clearly a good depiction of life and times then.

I recommend this book and look forward to the next in the series. I received a copy of this book from the author.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.
