Ours For a Season by Kim Vogel Sawyer

This is the first book I have read from this author.  I must say. she is a really good writer!

This story of Mennonite Marty and her husband and her non-Mennonite friend, Brooke is so different!  A breath of fresh air, for sure. 

The story covers some difficult topics and the author does that very well.

As Marty's husband Anthony and his crew set out to help Brooke with her ghost town project, some really interesting surprises happen, and you can't stop reading this fascinating story.

I have a childhood fascination with ghost towns so this story grabbed me and kept me reading.  You will love it as you read how they learn about God's paths for them.  Really great read.

Covered Bridge Charm by Dianne Christner

Dianne Christner is a new author for me.  I hadn't read any books about Mennonites and so it was interesting to see the difference with the Amish books that I have been reading.  I found it a little harder to get engaged into the story perhaps because there were many characters to get to "know".  I did like the assisted senior living aspect of the book because I have been dealing with things of this nature in my own life recently and could really relate to that part.

I enjoyed what Carly, the main character, was doing for one of the older ladies in the center where she worked.  It definitely was a fun part of the book with a little romance mixed in and I enjoyed that a lot.  And of course, there was just a bit of mystery to add to the interest.

The differences in the Amish and the Mennonites were shown here and it was something that I had not known about too well.  I liked Carly, who was an independently active young woman involved in social issues and getting others to be involved with them as well.

The longer I read the book the more engaged with it I became.

Unforeseeable by Nancy Mehl

Nancy Mehl is one of my Facebook friends, an author whose books I enjoy.  I won a copy of her book Unforeseeable in a contest.  I just finished reading this fascinating book.

Callie Hoffman lives in Kingdom, Kansas.  She is Mennonite and has a past that keeps her from progressing.  The secret that she keeps in her heart and has tried to bury in her mind has caused her to have changed from the young woman she once was.

Her fiance is Levi Housler and he is also the new pastor in their congregation.  Her life seems wonderful until a murder occurs in their town.

This book was quite suspenseful and was a page turner from the beginning.  You will not want to miss this great book!  For Christian readers is also inspiring and uplifting.
