Minding The Light by Suzanne Woods Fisher

This is book 2 of the Nantucket Legacy Series.  I loved book 1 but book 2 is just amazing.  Such a great book!  Suzanne's books just keep getting better and better.  This story is one that grabs you from the beginning and then you wish you had nothing else to do so that you didn't have to stop reading.

So well written and since I have an ebook, I ran across some historial words that I could readily look up the meaning for.  There is a lot of research that would have had to go into this book.

It's a romance as well as historical and the story of Daphne and Ren is really wonderful.

I am so hoping that this series continues for quite some time!

Phoebe's Light by Suzanne Woods Fisher

This was a really refreshing read by Suzanne Woods Fisher!  So different and very enthralling.  It was hard to put this one down.

I think I also learned some new historical facts from this book.  I learned many things about the Quakers of Nantucket.  It was a bit mysterious and very engaging as a result.

Reading through an old journal of her Great Mary who lived over 100 years before her, was a part of the book, as Phoebe's ancestor told her story, it becomes a bit mysterious and a blessing to Phoebe in many ways.

It wasn't all "happy" because she has some trials to overcome and many hardships.

This is a very good book and I am sure that you will want to read this one!  It grabbed me from page 1!

Honor by Lyn Cote

I loved this book!  It was so good.  Out of necessity, Honor finds herself marrying deaf Samuel Cathwell, who is an artisan glass maker.  He is actually drawn to her as well, as out of necessity, yet he is not at all comfortable showing his feelings with her, due to his deafness.  His deafness was caused from a childhood fever.  Her necessity, due to her grandfather disinheriting her because of her strong feelings about slavery and abolition.  She is determined to free slaves, including those of her grandfather.

She and Samuel, his nephew Eli, and her maid, Royale, make a move west to start a new life.  The trials, adventures and events of their lives together begin to shape their lives into a way that Honor never expected to experience.

The dramatic historical events make you feel as though you too, are experiencing the feelings that Honor is feeling as well as being totally enthralled in this wonderful book.  Highly recommend this!  It's a 5+++  Lyn is an amazing author.  I will be watching for her books!

Woman of Courage by Wanda E. Brunstetter

Woman of Courage

This new book by Wanda E. Brunstetter was absolutely wonderful!  I have read most of her Amish books and I would say this is my favorite book so far from this author.  It wasn’t Amish, it was about a Quaker woman, Amanda Pearson, who after being left by her fiancée, decides to become a missionary in the frontier bringing Indians to Christ.  She begins her 3,000 mile trek in 1837 during the time of frightening Indian attacks and many other hardships common to pioneering people of the early to mid1800’s. 

Her trials begin to seem unsurmountable but she forges on till she finds help and friendship.  She is relentless in her missionary goal.  She meets Buck McFadden, a non-believer who she finds herself attracted to.  But her strong Christian convictions will not allow more than a friendly relationship.

Amanda endures many hardships and experiences things she had never imagined she would experience.  The trials are continual and she surely must wonder if her decisions had been right or not.
The title of this book is very appropriate for Amanda as well as other women she encounters.  You really have to admire the women that helped to forge our country.  This was a 5 star book!  Very well done, Wanda!
