Rest Girl: A Journey from Exhausted and Stressed to Entirely Blessed by Jami Amerine

 This book is a very religiously based book.  The book gives thoughts on how to help you cope with being stressed and overwhelmed.  I think we have all had these times in our lives and could use some thoughts and suggestions as to how best to overcome these feelings.  She talks of personal experiences using humor, faith and grace to help pull us out of the mire.

She talks of Christ's miracles and asks the question:  Do you believe?  The need for faith is one of the thoughts that really spoke to me from this book.  It is a thought provoking book that could help those whose lives are stressed and need uplifting.

I enjoyed the book and it gave me some things to ponder and consider for my life.

Anna's Prayer by Karl Beckstrand

This is the fourth story of Karl's Beckstrand's non fiction children's book that I have read. They have all been stories of faith and love of God by these young immigrants.  The stories especially touch my heart because I was also a young immigrant girl.

Anna was the sister of Ida and as they separated to go to either a relative or a job, Anna is expecting to be picked up by an aunt at the train station.  It's late and no one arrives.  It's a beautiful tale of the faith of a young girl.  It brought some tears to my eyes as I read it. It's a gentle reminder of who we should always rely on.

Ida's Witness by Karl Beckstrand

I was lucky enough to read Ida's witness, a biography of the author's great-grandmother.  It was a sweet and heart-warming story of his immigrant great-grandmother as she struggled through many hardships in her youth.  As she finds the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she shares of her conversion and her testimony of her new found religion.

The story is very sweet and children will learn of the struggles of the earlier generations and how they are both different and similar to those of the struggles we deal with today. And how despite their hardships, made a good life for their families and descendants.

It's a beautiful story and full of faith and trust in God.

Searching For True Happiness by Linda Weaver Clarke (Audible Version)

I listened to this Audible version today.  I think I kind of needed it, too.  Feeling a bit "not as happy as I would like to be" due to health issues that seemed to linger way too long.  After reading this book, I felt uplifted and had more hope.

The author tells of her own personal trials, as well as those of family members, and how they overcame.  We all experience these times and she explains how they may us more capable to feel the pain or sorrow of others and be able to help them.

I found myself taking quite a few notes, and in a way, wished I had the paperback version, so that I could highlight and mark up the parts that were of special significance to me.

Happiness is not just getting the things in life that you want.  And the author gives some "assignments" to practice the things that she talks about in her book.

There are many worthwhile ideas to help us as we try to find happiness in our lifes, through service, love, and kindness.

I felt I learned some great ideas and think you will, too.

Too Blessed to be Stressed for Moms by Debora M. Coty

I loved this.  Each section has a scripture reference that gives you a real boost for the day. The devotionals share a story to uplift your spirits.  It's a beautiful book, inside and out. There are questions at the end of the chapters that help to analyze what you have read and how to better understand what was shared in the chapter. It's encouragement for busy moms and kind of reminds us not to beat ourselves up if we aren't the perfect mother.  This book is for Christians who want to place faith in God to find the help and answers that we need.

It appears that there is a nice series of these type of book by this author.  I would love to read them, too.

Kingdom Files Who Was David? by Matt Koceich

This was such a nice way to introduce Biblical characters to children.  It is suggested from ages 8-12, but I am thinking younger children would enjoy their parents to read these simplified stories to help them grow their religious faith.

The stories are written in a way that children should be easily able to understand them. David was a very important character and portrays a strong role for young boys of all ages.  There were many things that in his later life were not exemplary and we see that even men of strong faith can fail when not living by God's commandments.  

Very good introduction for children.

Imagine, The Ten Plagues by Matt Koceich

This time travel, Biblical fiction for youth was interesting.  I did feel that it went over really briefly as to how the plagues happened.  But it was a different way of getting children to grasp an interest in the Bible.  And that can be a good handle on children building an interest in ancient history as recorded in the Bible.

It was interesting how the author shows an example of bullying of others and trying to overpower others.  This was probably to relate how the Hebrews were also in a somewhat similar situation and both modern and ancient people have to find ways and the faith to overcome their trials.

It was an interesting book and I enjoy time travel themes, making it feel like you can watch history and actually be a part of it.

Where Jesus Slept by Norma Lewis Illustrated by Katy Hudson

This is a beautiful book for children and explains the events of the Nativity in a very sweet way that will capture the attention of small children.  It was enjoyable and the illustrations were very engaging, especially to the eyes of a child.  I can't wait till my grandson comes over to read it to him!

Searching For True Happiness by Linda Weaver Clarke

This new book by Linda Weaver Clarke, is quite different than other of her books which I have read.  This book is a book to help you gain a positive outlook on life.  It actually gives you some assignments to fulfill and gives many examples of people seeing the good although all around them seems to be things that would only bring despair.

The book even has a story of a German immigrant family who came to America with little.  This was a similar story as my own life story because I too, was from a German immigrant family who started out without almost nothing.  We too, received the wonderful love and service from others.

The suggestions given to find true happiness in our lives are good ones, perhaps those we know and realize but forget with time.

I think you will enjoy this book by Linda Weaver Clarke as it helps us to know that we can overcome with the help of others and with God.

Heaven 24/7

This book is a guide on how to get your life back on track and closer to God.  Using their own personal life's experiences, the authors share how they turned their lives in the directions needed and how important the blessing of repentance is in our lives.  The book discusses that although wrong roads are taken, it is always possible to turn back, start over and get on course.

This book was a good life guide for all.  I enjoyed reading it.

Amazed By Grace by Sheri Dew

This book was a gift to me at the time of my father's passing recently.  I read it today, probably in about 1/2 hour of time, one of the best 1/2 hours I have spent in a while.

This book, by remarkable speaker, Sheri Dew, gives us insight into God's ever-abiding love and grace for us.  It comforts you and reminds us of the purpose of the Atonement and how this gift of grace comes to us through this wonderful blessing.  Although a short book in length, it is profound and full of a powerful message to the reader and for me a special heartfelt gift from friends.

Beautifully written.
